INTERNATIONAL READING ASSOCIATION (IRA)
The IRA is a non profit, global network of individuals and institutions committed to worldwide literacy. Operating since 1956, it has more than 70,000 members and supports literacy professionals through a wide range of resources, advocacy efforts, volunteerism, and professional development activities.
The mission of the IRA is to promote reading by continuously advancing the quality of literacy instruction and research worldwide.
The Australian Literacy Educators’ Association is a national affiliate of the IRA.
Are you looking for a way to serve IRA right from your own classroom?
The International Reading Association is looking for new members of the IRA Teacher Advisory Panel, also known as TAP. TAP members advise the IRA Board of Directors about classroom literacy issues in the field. In the past, TAP members have served on IRA Task Forces, written articles about classroom issues for Reading Today, presented at the annual conference, and provided guidance on any number of items for board discussion. TAP members serve a three year term, and perform most of their duties through conference calls and electronic mail.
Applications due to IRA by 13 January 2012.
