Seeking Editors for ALEA's Middle Years Journal
10th Feb 12EoI SHOULD BE LODGED WITH THE PUBLICATIONS DIRECTOR BY MONDAY, 19 MARCH 2012.
ALEA members interested in being part of the editorial team for Literacy Learning: the Middle Years are invited to forward an expression of interest to the Publications Director, Marion Meiers at meiers@acer.edu.au.
The appointment of the editorial team will be confirmed by the end of March 2012. The initial two year term will begin in April 2012.
Expressions of interest should include details of the applicant’s experience in publishing, in literacy education and in ALEA activities, as well as a brief outline of ideas for future issues of the journal.
There are three ALEA journals and each editor is responsible to ALEA National Council through the Publications Director. Literacy Learning: the Middle Years is for teachers and educators involved in the middle years of schooling, from Years 5 to 9. These years are widely recognised as critical in students’ development as learners. The journal takes a sharp focus on the middle years and provides a forum for teachers and researchers to come together to share insights into classroom practices that impact on quality learning.
The editorial role involves seeking manuscripts, sending them to the Review Board, selecting items for each issue, editing the material and sending the copy to the Production Editor. The Production Editor liaises with the Journal Editor about the final detail for each issue, prepares the manuscript for printing and co-ordinates production.
