‘Literacy Starter Kit’ professional learning session
FACILITATORS: Julia Shaw and Sue Hamilton-Smith
A Saturday morning professional learning session that will equip beginning, returning and relief teachers, any teacher wishing to begin the school year with the skills and strategies necessary for effective literacy learning and teaching. Two experienced literacy educators will share the most favoured reading, writing and spelling practices of the Mackay Literacy Learning Community and provide participants with some handy, practical classroom resources to begin their ‘Literacy Starter Kit’. Participants will receive a folder containing session notes and some practical resources to support effective literacy learning and teaching in any classroom. Morning Tea will be provided. A Continuing Professional Development certificate will be issued on the day.
Date: Saturday 18 February 2012
Time: 8.45 am (registration and morning tea) 9.00 am - 12.30 pm (workshop session)
Cost: ALEA Individual and Institutional Members and Students $50.00, Non-members $60.00. Pay at the door with cash or a cheque and a receipt will be issued. Schools are invited to use electronic funds transfer.
