ALEA Victoria presents two opportunities for professional learning with two of Australia's leading literacy experts, David Hornsby and Lorraine Wilson,
Teaching Phonics in Context
In these sessions, David Hornsby and Lorraine Wilson will cover:
• how children learn phonics as they learn to read and write authentic texts
• how children’s early writing reveals their developing phonic knowledge
• how shared reading texts are a rich resource for having children identify letter/sound patterns
• how to use rhymes to build children’s knowledge of sounds, of letters, and of sound/letters patterns
• how commercial phonic programs are not needed in the teaching and learning of phonics
