ALEA PUBLICATIONS

ALEA’s first national journal commenced in 1978 with the publication of the Australian Journal of Reading. In 1992 it was renamed the Australian Journal of Language and Literacy to more accurately reflect its focus on literacy. ALEA now also produces a newsletter and publishes three journals, three times a year.

Australian Journal of Language and Literacy
– is a refereed journal that links theory with classroom practice.
Practically Primary
– is full of practical, informative ideas for primary classroom teachers.
Literacy Learning: the Middle Years
– for teachers of literacy from year 5 to secondary school.

Journal subscriptions are provided free to members. Non-member subscriptions are available, and copies of past journals can be purchased individually.

Individual articles from ALEA journals can be purchased from the AATE and ALEA Online bookstore or accessed at Informit.

In addition to publishing professional journals, ALEA also produces books and other items which are specifically designed to help teachers and teacher educators in their profession and those interested in literacy development. On publication, copies of these titles are usually made available free of charge to current financial members as part of their ALEA membership.
